Complete Your FAFSA

Three easy steps to apply for financial aid

Create a studentaid.gov account

Creating an FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID) is important for managing your federal student aid applications and processes. The FSA ID provides access to Federal Student Aid websites such as FAFSA.gov and StudentLoans.gov, enables you to electronically sign financial aid documents, and helps you track and manage your federal student loans and grants. An FSA ID is essential for students and parents involved in the federal financial aid process.

Complete the fafsa

With your FSA ID ready, you’re all set to complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)! This application is free to fill out and provides access to federal student aid, including grants and loans, to help cover the cost of your education. Avenue Five Institute’s FAFSA school code is 041607. When filling out the FAFSA, enter this code to ensure your information is sent to our school.

meet with your financial aid advisor

When you meet with your financial aid advisor, you will explore your educational funding options and review your personalized financial aid plan. In this meeting, you’ll also review the program’s costs, discover other scholarship opportunities, discuss and review any additional documents needed for enrollment, and have the chance to ask any questions you may have.

What are your options?

Financial aid may include funds to help cover your educational expenses, such as Pell Grant, Direct Student Loans, and Direct Parent PLUS Loans.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

A Pell Grant is a federal financial aid award that doesn’t require repayment. Your eligibility is based on factors such as financial need, family income, and the cost of attendance. The grant amount you may receive depends on these factors and the specifics of your educational program.

A Direct Subsidized Loan is a federal student loan where the U.S. Department of Education covers the interest while you are enrolled in school and for the first six months after you leave school. Avenue Five Institute determines the loan amount you’re eligible for based on your financial need and the program you choose.

A Direct Unsubsidized Loan is a federal student loan offered by the U.S. Department of Education. Unlike subsidized loans, where the government pays the interest while you're in school and after you leave school, you are responsible for paying the interest on an unsubsidized loan from the time the loan is disbursed to the school. Avenue Five Institute determines the loan amount you’re eligible for based on your financial need and the program you choose.

A Parent PLUS Loan is a federal student loan designed for parents of dependent students to help cover educational expenses. To qualify for a Parent PLUS Loan:

  1. You must be the biological or adoptive parent of a dependent student.
  2. A credit check is required. Parents with adverse credit histories may face additional requirements or be denied the loan.
  3. The loan carries a fixed interest rate set by the federal government, and there are loan fees deducted from the amount before disbursement.
  4. Repayment starts immediately after disbursement, though parents can apply for deferment while the student is in school and for a period after graduation. Repayment terms may vary.
  5. The maximum amount you can borrow is the cost of attendance (COA) minus any other financial aid the student receives.
