Get to Know Our Rock Star Team
This week we are turning the spotlight to our makeup school in Austin, which just happens to be offering a free workshop this month! Before we get to that, we’d like to toot the horn for Sunny Bourgeois. She’s as sunny as her name suggests and we are so blessed to have her as our MUD Make-up Program Director here at Avenue Five Institute.
Sunny is a professional makeup artist with some serious skills, she knows how to work wonders with brushes and cosmetics. Originally born in South Korea, Sunny moved to the US when she was 13 years old. In 2003, Sunny obtained her BA in Communications from Rutgers NJ State University before moving to NYC and receiving several certifications as a makeup artist. She’s one of our alumni too, Sunny graduated from our MUD Make-up Program a few years ago.
We truly value Sunny’s in-depth understanding of the makeup industry, after all she has worked for corporate cosmetic brands as a brand ambassador, educator and retail trainer. She has a lot of experience working in bridal and studio/editorial makeup as well. Sunny is so devoted to her trade that when she’s not at work, you’ll often find her practicing new makeup tricks on herself. She also likes getting crafty with her artistic daughter (like mother, like daughter). And as superhuman as Sunny seems, she is human and admits that in her free time she also enjoys catching up on sleep—us too!
